Seeding Ansible Automation Platform
Bring Migration Factory into AAP: organization, project, inventory, credentials, execution environment, and job templates. After this, you run providers, maps, and waves from AAP. You do not install the collection on every laptop.
Use the inventory from Building your inventory. OpenShift already has Virtualization and MTV (OpenShift). AAP is already running (Ansible Automation Platform). Do not seed until Validate your environment is true.
When you are done, AAP shows the Migration Factory templates.
The playbook is vmf_seed_aap (aap_seed role only). It does not install AAP. See aap_seed.
This is the last required laptop run. After it succeeds, use AAP.
Populate AAP
From the directory that holds your inventory:
ansible-navigator run \
--pp=missing \
--eei=quay.io/redhat-cop/openshift-virtualization-migration-ee:latest \
-m stdout \
--pae=false \
infra.openshift_virtualization_migration.vmf_seed_aap \
-i <inventory>
The playbook targets migration_aap.
After a successful run, AAP has at least:
-
OpenShift Virtualization Migration - MTV Provider
-
OpenShift Virtualization Migration - MTV Maps
-
OpenShift Virtualization Migration - MTV Plans
-
OpenShift Virtualization Migration - Migrate — does not start VMs. See Migrating VMs.
Surveys ask for source_name and target_name (inventory host names).
If seed fails
-
changemestill in the inventory — fix Building your inventory and run the same playbook. -
MTV missing — OpenShift, not a different seed command.
-
AAP not reachable — Ansible Automation Platform; seed does not deploy the operator.
